Dr. Maxine Owusu is an emergency physician, private practice owner/Medical Director of Thrive Health Center, executive leadership speaker, and healthcare leadership consultant with more than a decade of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in both academic and community emergency departments.

Her career spans frontline emergency medicine, healthcare leadership, private practice ownership, and entrepreneurship giving her a unique perspective on leading people, navigating uncertainty, and driving organizational success in high-pressure environments.

Working on the front lines of emergency medicine has taught Dr. Owusu that exceptional leadership isn't built when everything is going according to plan—it's developed when the stakes are highest. Every shift requires rapid decision-making, clear communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to lead confidently through uncertainty. These experiences inspired her signature leadership frameworks, The ER ABCs of Leadership and ER LEADS, which translate lessons from emergency medicine into practical strategies for leaders across healthcare and beyond.

As the owner and Medical Director of Thrive Health Center, Dr. Owusu combines clinical expertise with executive leadership, overseeing patient care while building a practice centered on innovation, collaboration, and community impact. Her entrepreneurial experience gives her firsthand insight into leading organizations, managing change, developing teams, and creating cultures where both people and performance thrive.

She is also the founder of STEM Kiddos, an initiative dedicated to inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals by exposing young students to careers in science, technology, engineering, and medicine.
